Keeper of the Lost Cities

KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES (Book 1)

In this riveting first book in the New York Times and USA Today bestselling series, a telepathic girl must figure out why she is the key to her brand-new world--before the wrong person finds the answer first.

Twelve-year-old Sophie Foster has a secret. She's a Telepath--someone who can read minds. It's a talent she's never known how to explain.

Everything changes the day she meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy who appears out of nowhere, and who can also read minds like her. She discovers there's somewhere she does belong, and that staying with her family will put her in grave danger. In the blink of an eye. Sophie is forced to leave behind everything and start a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known.

Sophie has new rules to learn and new skills to master, and not everyone is thrilled that she has come "home." There are secrets buried deep in Sophie's memory--secrets about who she really is and why she was hidden among humans--that other people desperately want. The truth could mean life or death--and time is running out

Who is the boy on the cover of book 1?
That is Dex, from a scene toward the end of the book.

Who is the boy on the cover of book 2?
That is Keefe, and I won't say where the scene falls because I don't want to give anything away.

Who is the boy on the cover of book 3?
Fitz!!! And yes, I'm just as excited as you that we finally get to see what he looks like!

Who is on the cover of book 4?
That is Sophie, Biana, and Keefe! (But don't worry, the other characters are in the book just as much)

Who is on the cover of book 5?
That is Sophie, Fitz, and Tam!

Who is on the cover of book 6?
Sophie, Keefe, and Linh!!!

Who will be on the cover of book 7 (and what will the title be)?
We're a ways away from book 7 stuff yet!

When can I buy book 6? And book 7???
Book 6 is scheduled to come out 11/7/17. And Book 7 is currently scheduled for Fall 2018. And no, sadly there's no way to make them come out any sooner than that. Alas, alack.

Is there an AR Quiz available for KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES?
Why yes, yes there is. You should be able to find it by searching the title, but just in case, it's quiz #154994

Is there an AR Quiz available for EXILE?
Yes again (and it's worth quite a lot of points, too!) Again, you should be able to find it by searching the name, but just to be safe, it's quiz #162919

Is there an AR Quiz available for EVERBLAZE?
Yep Yep Yep. (Worth more points than the other two, even!) Just like the others, you should be able to find it by searching by name. But in case you can't, it's quiz #170879

Is there an AR Quiz available for NEVERSEEN?
Of course! (And once again worth tons and tons of points) Like all the others, I'm sure you can find it by searching the title. But it's quiz #178716

Is there an AR Quiz available for LODESTAR?
There finally is! Once again, I'm sure you can find it by searching the title. But it's quiz #186284

Are there teacher guides for the books in the KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES series?
Yes--there ARE. I'm so glad you asked! They're available for KEEPER,  EXILE, EVERBLAZE, NEVERSEEN, and LODESTAR and they are awesome. You can find them by clicking HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE. (One will be available for NIGHTFALL sometime after launch)

Can you tell me anything about book 7--please I'm gonna DIE waiting!?!?
Eek--don't die. And I know, waiting is torture. But alas, spoilers really do ruin all the fun. So nope, I can't tell you anything other than "you'll discover it all when you read."

Can you tell me more about [insert Keeper world detail here] because you don't say that much about it in the book and I really want to know more!
Gah, I always feel like a big meanie when I have to say this. But ... if I don't explain something in the book (or don't provide as many details as you want), I'm not going to tell you more in an email or a blog comment or tumblr post or goodreads ask or tweet. I LOVE how curious you guys are about the world of the Lost Cities and how their culture works and their games and clothes and foods, etc. But I don't think it would be fair for some readers to have more information than others just because they ask. Plus, if I leave a detail out of the book, there's usually a good reason for it. Sometimes it might be related to a spoiler coming in the next book. Or sometimes it's because I like to leave some things up to your imagination. I love that you want to know exactly how I picture everything--but I personally feel that if I get too specific, it ruins the real magic of reading. I want you to be able to imagine certain things they way you want them to be. So I might choose to hold certain details back to give you the freedom to do that. And anyone who asks for more than what I've given in the books will sadly always get the same answer, "if it's not in the books, then imagine it any way you want."

I saw that it said the books are for ages 8-12--does that mean I can't read them if I'm older than that???
Okay first: I'm a big believer in "read what you want, and don't let anyone make you feel bad about it." Growing up, I had a teacher who talked me out of reading the books I loved because she felt they were "too young" for my advanced reading level, and all she ended up doing was killing my love of reading--don't let that happen to you! And second: the age range on books doesn't mean what you think it means. Books don't have a rating system like movies do, so those age ranges exist as a way of letting teachers/librarians/parents know what kind of "content" to expect, and whether or not it's "appropriate" for younger readers. So you have to think of that "Ages 8-12" listing like a PG movie rating. No one ever says, "Oh, I turned 13 so I guess that means I can only see PG-13 movies now." Plus, uh... the KEEPER books are longer than most "teen" books, so don't worry, it's not like you're getting some sort of "easy read."  :)

How do you pronounce Keefe?
Out of all the odd names I use in these books, I never thought Keefe would be the one to cause all the confusion. But I get this question all. the. time. And the thing is, part of me kinda hates answering it, because that sorta implies that there's a RIGHT and a WRONG and the beauty of reading a book is that you can decide things for yourself. So honestly, if you want to say it as Keefe (one syllable) or Keef-ie that's up to you. I'm not going to stop you. But technically, if you want to know how I hear it in my head, I hear it as one syllable, Keefe (rhymes with reef).

Is KEEPER going to be a movie and can I audition for a role?
As far as I know, the movie rights haven't been optioned. So for now, the answer is, "we'll see." And as far as auditioning, even if KEEPER does sell the movie rights, sadly I--as the author--will have virtually no say in casting decisions. That will be handled by the "movie people" and I will have nothing to do with it. Alas, alack.

Will you please please please come to my school or town?
Okay first? I can't tell you how much I love that you want to meet me. And I do quite a lot of travel and events, so there's a good chance I might be coming to see you. You can find all my upcoming events HERE, and if you don't see your city--never fear! I add new events all the time. But I also have *not* figured out how to teleport, so I can't be everywhere all the time. Sorry about that! And I don't have control over where I go on tour, so all I can say is, "hopefully." Also, if you're a teacher or librarian and would like me to visit your school, you can find more information about that HERE.

How many books are in the series?
At the moment there will be seven--though it was originally only going to be three, so obviously these things can change. But whether or not I'll be adding any more to the series will depend on two things. Most importantly, it will depend on how much story there's left to tell. But it will also depend on how happy my publisher is with the sales of the series, so you guys can play a part in making that happen. If you like the books and want to read more, tell your friends. Tell your teachers and librarians. Spread the word as much as you can. Word of mouth makes a huge difference. That's why we were already able to add books 4 - 7! ((hugs you all))

Do you read fan fiction?
I don't. I'm SUPER honored that people are inspired enough by my books to write their own stories. But IMHO, the author should be in charge of the books and the fans should be in charge of the fanfiction, and the two things should stay separate for lots of different reasons. For example, if I read a piece of fanfiction, and the writer did something I was planning to do in the later books, that writer might think I stole the idea from them--even though I didn't. And that's just one example of how it could get messy if I was reading fanfiction, so I stay far away from it, and if readers email it to me, sadly my assistant deletes those before they ever reach me. Being a responsible adult is especially boring sometimes.

Are you on Wattpad (and if not--will you join)?

I'm not on Wattpad, and at the moment, I sadly have no plans to join. It seems to be that people only really use Wattpad for two things. 1) to read other people's fanfiction, in which case, see the answer above. Or 2) to post writing of their own, in which case I unfortunately have too many contracted deadlines to meet before I'll have time to write anything else. If that ever changes, of course I'll let you guys know. But at the moment, no wattpad. Sorry!

Are you Team Dex, Team Fitz, or Team Keefe?
Actually, I'm Team Sophie. I love all three boys equally, and if Sophie decides she likes one of them best, it will be entirely up to her. So really, it doesn't matter how you ask, or how many ways you try to trick the info out of me, I'm not going to pick a favorite boy (nor will I tell you which one--if any--that Sophie is going to choose). Sorry-not-sorry! :)

    1. I agree! Keeper of the Lost Cities was my favorite book! Then I got an ARC of the second one, Exile, and it isn't any more. Exile is just so awesome!

Exile is really good! I loved it. I can't wait until it hits the market!

If I had to give it a starred review, it would get 5 stars out of five. Simply because they don't let you give it more than that.

    2. I agree. I LOVED it! Truthfully, when my friends recommended it, I thought it would be childish and was reluctant to get started, especially since the beginning didn't capture me. But when Sophie started at Foxfire...I really like it. I also really like Brandon Mulls series FABLEHAVEN, and that's amazing, and KEEPERS is in that category.
BTW Shannon, you came to my school and I'm really glad you did or I would NOT haven read your great story!

Now she's all like "Go team Keefe!" and I'm like "What!". And just to make me crazy, she gave me a paper that said GO TEAM KEEFE in big bold letters. Now I have to think of a way to avenge Team Fitz.

I can honestly say I don't get the whole "bird who dumps her eggs in the ocean" thing but if I really think about it I think about it I imagine a dragon-like bird laying her eggs near the ocean as the tide takes away her eggs. It reminds me of how a turtle leaves her children in a whole and making them live on their own from day 1.

I LOVE THE BOOK SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SECOND BOOK!!!
This book literally has everything I ever
    wanted in a book!

I love every single detail about the story and characters!!
Sophie is a great name for a powerful yet still girly in many ways! Love the GIRL POWER! If Fitz is ever on the cover page of the next book.. please make him super cute with dark cool hair!(looks cooler with dark hair)

IT HAS ACTION, FANTASY, A STRONG FEMININE 12-13 YEAR OLD GIRL WITH SUPER AWESOME POWERS, A MAGICAL SCHOOL (I <3 HARRY POTTER,A LITTLE ROMANCE,AND A MYSTERIOUS PAST.
A BEAUTIFUL COMBINATION OF THE BEST BOOKS/STORIES EVER IN ONE SUPER AWESOME BOOK!!

    SUGGESTION TO THE AUTHOR:
-SOPHIE GETTING COOL POWERFUL NEW SKILLS/POWERS
    -COOL NEW OUTFITS
    -SOPHIE AND FITZ <3
-EPIC BATTLE BETWEEN SOPHIE AND EVIL (WITH POWERS)

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR WRITING THIS BOOK! IT'S JUST DO PERFECT AND AWESOME!!!

But noooo don't put Sophie with Fitz. It's too predictable! Make her go with all the guys at some point...THEN AT THE VERY END, put it some awesome twist nobody was expecting :D
Just do NOT LET HER CHOOSE NO ONE. I'LL BE SO SAD

Fitz might have made some mistakes in the past, but we all know deep down (deeper for some of us) that Fitz is the guy for Sophie. Wow! that was deep. I didn't know I had an emotional side to me. Anyway, GO TEAM FITZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I am trying really hard to spread the word about keeper. I can't post any good comments on the internet except for this because my parents won't allow me too, but I have already given one friend keeper and she LOVED it. I gave my NEW copy that I bought yesterday of keeper to my friend but she lost it:( :( :( I am, like, really sad now. Now I can't give it to any more friends. Anyway I was hoping you could give us the cover (if you have it) or the title (if you have it) or just a sneak peek at the next book 'cause I'm, like, dying here.

  35. Brandi (30 something) who enjoyed it just as much as the kids!October 15, 2013 at 11:12 PM

I picked up Keeper on a whim and just couldn't put it down. Literally fed the kids cereal, ignored the husband and spent a whole day reading. I am an avid reader, but haven't been so entranced in a book since Harry Potter (all of which I read cover to cover within 24 hours of their release). And the second I was done I hit the internet looking for the next book. I was thrilled to discover a sequel, but a little sad to see I'd have to wait until October. Went ahead and pre-ordered the book (something I never do) and was estatic to see it arrive in my mailbox. Just finished Exile and am already looking forward to the next book. Wish I didn't have to wait quite so long, but know it will be well worth the wait!

As for teams - definately Team Dex. Though Keefe is hands down my favorite character. :) Love his attitude. But alas, I suspect poor Dex will be heartbroken when Sophie chooses Fitz instead.

Dying to know who Mr. Forkle's going to turn out to be.... And I can't decide if I am hoping for some saving grace for Bronte, or just to have him end up in exile tortured with rainbows, and fuzzy happy, candy coated thoughts forever. Oh, the horror!

  36. Keeper Of The Lost Cities is by far one of the best novels I have read. I have read dozens of novel series and its in the top three, just behind "The Kingkiller Chronicles By Patrick Rothfuss" And "Harry Potter By Joanne Kathleen Rowling". And I have just read the first book of this Keeper series. So it has got every chance of being the best book.

    Keep writing!!!!! Go Shannon!

P.S. : I'm Team Keefe, because he has got an Aura.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am putting this comment up for everyone to see. SOPHIE HAS TO PICK FITZ! I mean, Dex is technically her cousin because she is now adopted, so it would be WRONG if she picked Dex. But Dex is pretty awesome, though. Second, Keefe is awesome, but he doesn't seem like Sophie's type. (Keefe is COOL though). Third, Fitz is the first elf Sophie had seen. They have been through a lot. Okay, so Dex and Sophie have been through a lot together, but look at sentence 2. Sophie would have to pick Fitz. The series just wouldn't be the same without Sophie picking Fitz. Its just got to happen. Alright, I think that's enough for today, I'm starting to sound like the matchmaker in Fiddler on the Roof:)

  39. Please keep writing! I have read a ton of books, but by far these 2 are my favorite. I was fortunate that i read the first book, and when i finished it( i couln't put it down)the next book was already out. I honestly don't know what i would have done if i would of had to wait. I find so many connections with Sophie, so im going to have to say i'm team sophie, but i'm torn between Fitz and Keefe:) I also love to write, and you gave me some awesome story ideas! Only now i'm jealous that I don't get Fitz. Keep up the exciting romance, please!

    ReplyDelete
  40. By the way, I'm pretty good at guessing where stories are headed, and I have a strong feeling Jolie's not dead. She might be a good friend for Sophie...though I hope there wouldn't be any jealousy between the two when it comes to getting attention from Grady and Edaline.
By the way, please put Fitz on the next cover, because I want to know what he looks like. Although I'm not Team Fitz [in case I didn't mention it in my earlier comment, I'm Team Sophie - or Team Wylie, if that could be possible, because he's my favorite character] I love the part where Sophie connects to Fitz's mind halfway around the world, and she sees him looking up in shock and thinking, "You're dead," and she's asking him to help, insisting that she's not.

    1. Hi Emerald. In case you're wondering, I didn't post your other comment because I was worried it might reveal a few too many things about EXILE. I try to keep this area spoiler free, especially with EXILE since it's only been out a few weeks. But thank you for all of those thoughts. And I am hoping Fitz will be on the cover of book 3, but I don't know if he will. No matter what, I'm sure the cover will be amazing.

  42. I just have to say I respect you more Shannon. I have had an idea for a book for a year and am finally getting it down on paper. But it is much harder than I thought it would be. But than I read Keeper and it is so awesome! You wrote it so wonderfully that I can feel what Sophie is feeling. Its so cool! And the characters are so good. I very much like how I can acually look up to the adults in the books. Because most books these days the adults are all idiots. But Alden, and mostly every adult are more realistic. But Fitz is so nice, Keefe is so funny:) and Dex is a very good friend. (Which is why I think her and Dex should end up together in the end. He knows her best. And they spend a lot of time together. And they are not cousins in any way. They aren't blood related at all.) But, any way. You explain how Sophie is feeling very well. I say again that you are a great writer, even as good as J K Rowling.(And for me that is saying A LOT.) Keep up the total awesomeness! I cant wait until book three!

    1. Well, I mean, they are technically not cousins, I guess. But since she IS adopted, now, she kind of is Dex's cousin if you think about it. The more I think about it, it would be kind of weird if they got together. I asked my friends what they thought after reading the post, and they thought it would be weird if they got together. Anyway, I am totally team Fitz. but I totally support Dex because he is cool. he is such a good friend, but it would be a shock if Sophie and Fitz never get together. GO TEAM FITZ AND DEX ( a little more to Fitz though).

    2. Ya, if you really think of it that would be kind of weird. But I still love Dex. Fitz is awesome too, so is Keefe. 3. Whoever wrote the comment above me IS AWESOME! Sophie and Fitz should be together.

      Delete
    4. I don't think there would anything weird for Sophie and Dex to be together. She was adopted into the family, and they weren't raised together as though they were actually cousins. No one treats them as such in the books, and the term "cousins" has never been used.

In fact, both sides of the family are aware of Dex's crush and seem supportive. Grady's "What about Dex?" after Keefe's visit in Exile was clearly implying that he thought something romantic was going on between Sophie and Dex, so he was surprised she was so close with the occasionally flirty Keefe. Meanwhile on the other side of the tracks, Dex's siblings clearly know about Dex's crush, and it is pretty heavily hinted that his Dad knows as well, and yet he encourages Dex to show Sophie his lab, which will give them a place to talk alone.

So basically, they are NOT genetic cousins, and their society doesn't view them as cousins, so it really isn't a problem.

I agree with the original poster. Dex is such a good friend to Sophie, I really hope they end up together. Dex is always there for her when dealing with the little things (exams, hard days, etc) and the big things whenever Sophie is willing or able to tell him what is going on (and sometimes when she can't). Don't get me wrong, I like Fitz, I just favor Sophie with Dex. But of course, my main team is Team Sophie, so as long as she's happy and the other characters we all love get their happy endings too, I'm good. :)

      Delete
  43. I totally loved Exile! It was amazing! I loved how we saw more of Keefe. He's one of the best characters, but I don't think he and Sophie should go together, he seems more like a brother to her in my eyes. Go team DEX! He and Sophie aren't cousin's right? Cause that would ruin my life cause it be weird if they got together and they were cousin's. I loved Silveny! Go Glitter Butt!

  44. Dear Shannon,
I really love your book, Keeper of the Lost Cities (Bk 1)! I got it from the library and honestly was not expecting much because I am usually not impressed with all the "popular" books. I really was drawn by the cover! I started reading: I could put the book down-but, it was on my mind constantly until I finished it! I love that Sophie is honest and just not drool over every single "cute" boy that crosses her path. I like that she is able to just have a friends relationship with Dex! I like that you describe things! Some books are just lacking in description. I appreciate that the main characters reach out and help each other. when I finally finished the book (within two days of checking it out), I was really hoping there was another book! I looked it up and was SO happy to see there is a second one! I cannot wait to read it and the third one, when it comes out! I think you should definitely have Fitz on the front cover of the third book. (To be completely honest, I've been picturing him sort of like Jack Frost from rise of the Guardians--before he is Jack Frost--only with blue eyes.) I would love to see how you actually envision him! These books are definitely some that I want to buy for my personal library!

    3. I thought it was Fitz too. My aunt, Myrna Foster (who is mentioned on the last page of the first book) told me to read it. at first I was thinking, wow that's a thick book, but then I read it in 2 days. It took me 3 days to finish Exile, which I also absolutely love. I don't know which boy I like best, which is why I'm team Sophie. Dex is awesome, but gets jealous too easily. Keefe is totally cool, but can't be serious. I guess it is how he deals with stuff, so I can understand that. Fitz is wonderful for sooooo many reasons, like, he's really cute, & he's the one that brought her to the elvin world. He's kind & considerate, but not when he's angry. I can understand why he would get mad, but I don't like guys who blame me for all of their problems. I really hope that Shannon writes more than 3 books& I've been telling everyone to read the books to the point where it gets annoying in hopes that it will help. Shannon, you are definitely in my top 3 favorite authors. PLEASE hurry writing you're 3rd book! I'm begging you! I don't think I can wait 11 more months! YOU ROCK SHANNON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read Keepers 1 in about eight hours and Exile just a bit longer, and I had to read them both again a little slower to pick up the extra details!!
everyone says this is a middle grade book but I'm fifteen and i love them more than any other ones I've read!!!!

  52. You're great, Shannon!!! Keeper of the Lost Cities and Exile are my favorite books! Please hurry and write the third book. I can't wait until next year. But how come people say that they think Dex on the first book is Fitz or Keefe? I'm not exactly sure but mostly sure that the part where Shannon describes Fitz was that he had like dark hair, or something like that. Well, it makes sense if people thought Dex on the first book was Keefe, but I don't l know why people think it was Fitz.

  60. I just love these books. When I read the first one, it was right when it came out (I happened to stumble upon it), so I had to wait FOREVER until Exile came out. Well, it was worth it, and my younger brother agrees (he loves them too). The only problem is that I just devour these books, and I find myself wanting more and more of Keepers of the Lost cities! Thank you so much for writing these awesome books!!!

  63. Dear Mrs. Messenger,
First of all, congrats on the paperback, Let the Sky Fall
Second of all, even though I'm just another fish in the ocean of people that like your books, I just wanted to say that I really do enjoy them. I'm on page 327 (which is obviously not finished) and there are not enough hours in the day to read. So as an author, I think you've accomplished the "my fans totally LOVE my books" goal. Congrats.
p.s. I found a type-o on page 327, it reads "Wait- what time is it?" She capped her hands to open her drapes." I kind of think you meant clapped, instead of capped. Anyway, still love the book!! :) Nice Work!

  83. I Loved these books soooooooooooooo much !!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is like my 4th favourite series/trilogy after Percy Jackson/The Heroes of Olympus ( the second one is a continuation of the percy jackson series,so I consider it one series altogether though it isn't, have you heard of it?), my second fav series is the Poison apple series, my third favourite series/trilogy is let the sky fall. I stumbled on this book by accident because my aunt was at the department store while visiting me in Toronto (That's right! I'm CANADIAN) I asked her to bring me back a book, I've read a lot of books so she called on the phone and told me the choices of books so she wouldn't get me a book I've read already, there was a book in particular that I had in mind but I didn't know if the store had it so I waited for her list all the books, Keeper was listed, and I hadn't heard of it so I quickly went to goodreads and looked at the cover, which looked awesome btw but I lied and told her I had read it (I regret that now), finally she listed the book I wanted and I told her to get that one, (she sounded kinda relieved to find a book I hadn't read in that tiny selection)my aunt left me really curious about keeper, later When I went to indigo to get my monthly four books (books are more costly these days so I have to limit myself to only four new books a month *sigh*) I saw Keeper just sitting on the shelf next to another book I wanted and it looked so amazing and it was just calling out "READ ME!!!" I had to pick it up. Usually I pick up maybe 5-8 books that look good and choose what books to pick from there;I had already chosen 3 books and the last pick was between Keeper and another book *competitive music plays*,after a lot of thinking I decided to take keeper *victorious music plays* (wow I'm. making this sound like I'm choosing between Edward and Jacob :P) anyway, I finished keeper in 5hrs,because with me once I pick up a good book I have to read until the end or I'm gonna go insane (in a not crazy way, of course) the insaneness still came when I realized I had to wait four months for the next book, thankfully I had Let the Sky Fall, and a couple other books to keep me busy :) yay! Now the insaneness is attacking me again with the wait of K33P3R !!! I was kinda pleased to see Sophie slept with a bright blue Elephant, because I do that too! My background is Indian so my collection of stuffed animals is Indian/Canadian like my Elephant,My tiger, my beaver, my polar bear, my moose in an RCMP uniform, and my peacock, and my dolphin (she's my favourite). As for the team thing I am on everyone's team but I'm SOOOO Team Sophie. *GO TEAM SOPHIE!!!!!* Ok, I *think* I'm done rambling about about how awesome your work is,and this is already rather long,so I guess that's it. Oh and I forgot to say, Thank u for the time and dedication you put into your writing, and for sharing the awesome adventure of Sophie with all of us!

I'm a really big fan of the Keeper series! Of course, I would be a bigger fan if the third book was out ;-)
Anyway, I wanted to ask you this: Do you have any songs that always make you think of certain character/s? I personally always think of Dex and Sophie when I hear a song called "watching you watch him" by Eric Hutchinson, and when I hear "Vanilla Twilight" by Owl City, I think of Fitz when he thought Sophie was dead. Soppy, I know, but there you have it.
Also, do you have any suggestions for avoiding Mary Sues and Gary Stus in your writing? I want to be a part-time author when I grow up.

  98. I just recently read the Keeper series and in my opinion Fitz and Sophie are more in a brother-sister relationship (yes I am aware of the heart fluttering but I think that's more excitement and the generally odd circumstances). Then Keefe seems more like a big brother figure to me-a goofy older brother but still a brother thing. I know Dex and Sophie are best friends but in my opinion if any of the guys are going to become something more it'd be Dex.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Honestly, I feel like Dex just has one of those meaningless crushes that you get around that age. Keefe is totally like a brother to Sophie, but I have to say that Fitz is more (out of the three) like a "more than a friend" kind of thing.

  100. This is seriously really hilarious :) I'm just sitting at my laptop, reading all of these comments, I think they are sooooo funny! My friend just sent me the link today and I am so happy she did!

I'm definitely Team Sophie. She's just so amazing, and she's exactly the person I want to be! Being a telepath would be my dream come true!

Here's the story of how I started reading Keeper: I was at the bookstore in the summer, trying to find a book that I could get on Kindle when I was traveling over the summer, and I saw Keeper on the shelf. I'm an avid reader so I know exactly the kind of books I like to read, and when I read the back of Keeper 1, I was like, "This is totally the book for me!" But I had to wait until we got home so I could get it on Kindle. I read Keeper 1 6 times in a row while I was on vacation- it was that good! I also really love Harry Potter because it is just super amazing, and this is sort of like Harry Potter. On the night before Exile came out, I was just begging my mom to get it for me on Kindle the next day. In the morning, I literally made her get me the book on Kindle, and I said that I wouldn't go to school if she didn't let me get the book. So... yeah :)

I love these books sooooo much! I am trying to spread the word about Keeper at my school- I got one of my friends to read it and I'm really proud of myself!

I have a few questions for Shannon: Is Shannon Messenger your real name? It's really pretty! Also, do you know what Keeper 3 is going to be called? And do you do the HTML and CSS for these pages by yourself, or does somebody else do them?

Yeah... and here is my question for the rest of the commenters: How do you decide which team you're on? I'm definitely on Team Sophie, but I have no idea what boy she should get together with. I'm sort of leaning towards Team Fitz right now, but he's sort of too perfect and he was really jerky to her in Exile. Keefe is really awesome, but he isn't exactly very serious... and Dex is technically her cousin. It's really obvious that Sophie likes Fitz, and Dex likes Sophie, but I also think that Keefe and Fitz like Sophie. Remember in Keeper 1 (or was it Exile?) when Sophie gets mud on her clothes or something like that, and she goes to Biana's bathroom and wears a red tunic? And then she comes downstairs and Fitz and Keefe are both staring at her, and Biana say's that red is totally Sophie's color. I think all three boys like Sophie, but Dex would be weird, and Keefe is too goofy. I just can't decide!!!!!!

Anyways, I'm waiting for Keeper 3 to come out, and I can't wait!!!!!!!!

    - A.S.

  104. Okay guys--here's the deal with the comments. I don't know why, but there's a glitch that won't let this page display more than 200 comments at a time. It SAYS it's displaying them, but they aren't there. That's why it's looked like there was no one posting on here for a while, even though lots of you were.

I won't get into all the boring techie things, but rest assured, I've tried everything to fix it, and after a MULTITUDE of failed experiments, the best solution I could find is this:

    - I went back and deleted most of the comments I'd posted to you guys. They were all just me saying boring things like, "Wow--thank you so much!!!" and... that's kind of a lame use of space. I kept ones that were answers to questions, but I wanted to fit in as many of YOUR awesome comments as I could. Please know that I still read--and LOVE--everything you guys post for me here. It seriously makes my day. And please don't have your feelings hurt if I deleted my reply to you--and please don't think I'm ignoring you if I don't reply to something you've said.

    - Even doing that, we're still at the 200 limit. And the new page I just built for you is ALSO at the 200 comment limit (have I mentioned my fans are amazing?)

So I've built you guys yet another new place:

    GO HERE

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR BEING SUCH AWESOME READERS AND FANS!!!!
