Yep, that's right! We get to choose our own teams here in Keeper-land! (there's even a few new ones, for those who've been hanging around for a while.) And yes, for many of you, your team choices are all about the shipping--which is *always* an awesome reason--but that's also not the *only* reason you can choose a team.
Teams can also be picked for your favorite characters and creatures, or because of who you are and what you relate to. Basically, there's no wrong reason for choosing a team. And if you're having trouble deciding, here's a few facts that might help you make up your mind:
Ever feel like you don't belong? Then you look no further--you belong with Team Sophie! You may not always have the answers, but you're brave and smart, and if you trust yourself, you can handle anything. And as for who holds your heart? Only time will tell how you decide . . .
Ever feel like the underdog? Then welcome to Team Dex! You may have people constantly underestimating you, but you'll prove them all wrong someday. And while you may be the ultimate BFF, you're hoping to break out of the "friend zone" eventually. (you might have pretty great dimples, too . . . )

Jokes and pranks are the highlight of your week--but that doesn't mean you can't be serious when you need to be. More teams? YAY!!!!! Okay now I'm team Sophie-Dex plus Silveny and Iggy. But even though I'm mainly Sophie-Dex I'm DIEING to see a picture of Fitz. When I first saw the Exile cover I thought it was Fitz. Then I was like "Ohhh, it's Keefe that makes much more sense." Okay I'm gonna stop rambling now so I can say YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!

I've read the books like 6 times each! Though who Sophie likes isn't the most important , part, I definetely have my own strong opinion. Fitz all the way! They all are nice but I think Fitz is the most connected to Sophie. She can send messages to him. Plus, he's the one who found her.

DeleteGO TEAM KEEFE!!! I used to like Fitz but the "Deck" thing sort of threw me off. It's pretty obvious that he did that on purpose. Also he was a total jerk to Sophie later on so I think that deep down he's pretty cruel or has anger management issues... I think that Sophie should choose Keefe because he's always encouraging to her and cracking jokes to lighten the mood.

Fitz used to be my favorite until I realized how mean he could be to people. So I went with Keefe instead because of his goofy personality. Dex sort of acts like a little kid some times, I mean I totally agree with the "Wonderboy" title. But for some reason him and Sophie together doesn't sit well with me.

ReplyDeleteGo Team Fitz. I know a lot of people want Sophie and Keefe to get together(not including me), but I think that Keefe should be with Biana. Fitz's sister, like, seems to have a crush on Keefe. Sophie already has Dex and Fitz (Go Fitz), but Biana doesn't really have anyone. Also, Keefe and Sophie are to much like brother and sister, and my friends and I think that they would not be a very good boyfriend and girlfriend. I think Sophie and Fitz would.

I don't like Fitz that much, I don't know why. But I will say he was stressed about his Dad's mind being broken and what-not, so he had a reason to be a jerk, plus he made up with Sophie in the end. But he seems more like a big brother to Sophie then Keefe. Dex and Sophie aren't blood related at all so it wouldn't really be weird. But I agree, she is thirteen and doesn't need a boyfriend until she's at least fifteen or sixteen. I'm still team Dex/Sophie though:)

DeleteYou people are missing 2 important things, you have to remember although Sophie is only 13 now she's going to get older, and remember the elves don't even consider age as anything important because they have MUCH longer lifespans than elves, and also elves kind of stop aging when they reach adulthood, and for those who are against team Fitz because he's 3 years older than her, don't you notice after a certain age teens all look the same and the same thing with adults ( i have two cousins who are siblings, one is 14years old the other is 17 years old and they are always mistaken as twins now because of their height became more even, the 17 year old gets mad when people think of them as twins because shes like 3 years older then the 14 year old, and she misses being able to do things the 14 cant do, like when their ages were 5 and 8 the 8 year could ride her bike without training wheels and the 5 year old would get jealous and i guess its just sibling competition)

Good point... Sophie will get older. She won't stay 13 forever, so that brings me to another point. HOW ON EARTH DO YOU DECIDE WHICH TEAM YOU ARE ON??? All three boys are totally awesome! Dex is more of her best friend, and Sophie doesn't show any love interest in him, I think. Not yet, at least... And she totally likes Fitz, and I think he likes her back. I can't wait to find out! And Keefe... well... you can tell that Sophie doesn't think of him that way.

Question for Shannon: Are Sophie and Dex cousins? I really hope the answer is no. I'm team Sophie, but if Sophie chooses a guy, it should be Dex. Keefe is more like a super fun, goofy brother and Fitz seems only skin-deep to me. He was a jerk to Dex. Are there only going to be 3 books?
ReplyDeleteI don't think that Sophie and Dex are really cousins because they're not related by blood. And I totally agree with you on Fitz. That guy needs to stop being such an arrogant "wonderboy" But since I can't imagine Dex with Sophie, I am rooting for KEEFE!!!

DeleteSophie's adoptive mother is Dex's mother's sister, but because Sophie is adopted, no one refers to them or thinks of them as cousins. In fact, careful reading of Exile includes at least two hints that Grady (Sophie's adopted father), ships them/thinks there is something romantic going on between them and very much approves (see pages 27 and 402). They weren't raised as cousins, they aren't cousins by blood, and the people around them don't see them as cousins. And I agree with you (aka: the original poster), out of "Sophie's Boys" I like Sophie/Dex best. He's the one who is always, or at least tries very hard, to ALWAYS be there for her when she needs him. And she in return is very conscientious of his feelings and does her best to cheer him up when he is upset (though she rightly draws the line when he's being too petty with his jealousy). The beginning of Exile really cinched it for me. Not only do we have Dex going out of his way to cheer Sophie up after a rough day, his description of the incident at the end of book one (not described to avoid being to spoilery for the page) not only shows how much he cares about Sophie and wants to protect her, but also how much he trusts her to be able to protect herself and him. I know Sophie likes Fitz, and will most likely end up with him, but it still stands out to me how many times we have Dex proving how much he believes in Sophie in the same book that Fitz spends the majority blaming her for something that was not her fault.
DeleteAnd now I'm rambling, but back to the original questions, according to the FAQs, there are currently only plans for 3 Keepers books, but Shannon might end up writing more if she gets inspired and interest is high. :)

Dex and Sophie are still sort of cousins, but if Grady approves, then I guess in the Lost Cities Sophie and Dex aren't considered cousins. Which is good... DeleteI'm curious about other people's theories concerning the Black Swan and their eventual motives. (Since it says on page 1 of book 1 that Sophie is their creation, I figure this isn't too spoilery for this page.) Their end goal is hard to tell at this point (they are so mysterious, I love it), and even the little details leave room to wonder. Such as Sophie's eyes. Were they just a side affect, or did they make them brown on purpose so the elves would be less likely to find her before the Black Swan wanted them to? After all, if that pack of Kindergarteners hadn't passed by at the right time to show Fitz that Sophie is a telopath, he would have walked away, assuming she wasn't an elf purely because of her eye color. And Shannon mentions Sophie pulling her loose eyelashes quite a lot. I've started wondering if the Black Swan programed that in so that she would leave DNA samples behind for them to use in testing whether she is working right and allowing them to break into her things with DNA locks.

Your ideas are really creative with the eyelashes and everything. I never thought about it like that. But I think that the Black Swan are using Sophie to rescue the human world for some reason and the Pyrokinetics don't want that to happen. Fintan was obviously hiding something. Also I think that Sophie will bring back Prentice.

It seams as though they want some kind of information from her and then just get rid of her afterward. If the Pyrotechnic wasn't Fintan it was an unregistered Pyrotechnic. I think they're trying to scare Sophie into submission to do something by using Everblaze to threaten her family.

Well, maybe there are some pyrokinetics, like Fintan, out there that don't like humans, so the whole Everblaze thing in Book 1 was so that the pyrokinetics could burn down the human world and get rid of humans.

I think the Pyrokinetics totally have the power to wipe out the humans easily, so why even bother with a weird mutant girl like Sophie, even if she's really smart? DeleteI think that the Black Swan could have some sort of system where the have their own dwarves invading Exile. Also, considering that Prentice seemed to know exactly what to show Sophie, and since they'd need a really good telepath for manipulating Prentice's mind in the state it was in, they might have multiple people like Sophie. I also think that Keefe's dad might be involved with either the Black Swan or the group of pyrokinetics. He always seemed to act weird around Sophie.

I wonder if the group of pyrokinetics are actually trying to use Sophie for themselves. In book one when Sophie is captured the pyrokinetics talk about relocating her and altering her memories. After all, Sophie is really powerful.

Omg this is the BEST book I ever read (I would know cause I read a lot). I started reading and I couldn't stop. I finished book one and begged my mom to get me exile! I just finished exile and I can't wait for October so I can read the third keeper book! I also wanted to tell you I totally Idolize you Shannon!

ReplyDeleteI personally think that Sophie and Keefe don't have a romantic relationship. To me, they are just friends.
So, the battle between Fitz and Dex. I think that Dex is (right now) just a best friend and nothing more. I think if both asked her to go out with them, Sophie would choose Fitz.
However, EXILE did throw me through a loop. Sophie still might be upset about the fact Fitz got mad at her.
I see Dex as her friend who wants to be something more.
I see Fitz as her crush who isn't ready to be in a relationship.
These are my personal views and aren't right OR wrong. You can agree or disagree, just no "Kiki Bashing". :)

For one thing, do any of the characters in Keeper think of Sophie and Dex as cousins? No, no they don't. Sophie was adopted when she was twelve years old, Edaline and Grady are her guardians, not blood parents. That makes Sophie and Dex not related in any way. Fitz is to perfect. He is brotherly towards Sophie, he is nice and all, but I do not think he and Sophie should end up together. And Keefe I think people are judging to early. I think he has a lot more about him that is undiscovered. I really, really hope she ends up with someone that is not Fitz.

Fitz took out all his anger on Sophie in EXILE and if Fitz did that again when they were dating, they would break up. End of story. Keefe and Sophie I can't see happening. Sophie Foster with the bad boy? I don't think so. Now, DEX and Sophie, yes. I bet they're going to get so close that they will start to like each other. Um no way SISTER! Dex is too um, how do i say this. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Dex but he is just not right for Sophie. Keefe is as right as it gets. No one will EVER be better than Keefe. I wouldn't mind her ending up with any of them, but Keefe is my first choice, then Fitz, then Dex he totally likes her but she just doesn't feel that way. Remember the line in exile "ya i like Fitz, I mean i don't like him, it's just.... ya Fitz is cool." Or something like that she just doesn't go with Dex.

I am not sure what to think. Keefe may kind of act like a bad boy, but he has a bad family life and I think there is much more about him that we don't know. Fitz I do not like, but I will say again that his Dad's mind was broken, and Fitz was mad and frustrated. And he apologized to Sophie in the end. I do agree with you though, I love Dex and I am really hoping that he and Sophie are together in the end:)

Fitz was okay-ish in the first part, in the second...not so much-than there's the fact he called Sophie "Little sis" several times, and he's way older than her, so...The One and Only Keefe!!!
