WOO HOO--It's finally time for the LODESTAR Pre-Order GIVEAWAY!!!!

It's time guys.

The post you've been waiting for.

THE LODESTAR PRE-ORDER GIVEAWAY IS HERE!!!!

Now that we're three weeks away from the launch of LODESTAR (AHHHH--WHERE DOES TIME GO???), it's time to make sure you know how to get your free swaggish goodies!

(And warning: as always, this is a epically long post with LOTS of important information, so make sure you read it all carefully so you don't miss your opportunity)

(Note: if you're planning on coming to one of my signings, you don't need to take advantage of this giveaway, since I'll be giving out the same goodies in the main swag pack at my events. Go HERE to see if I'll be doing a signing near you)

This giveaway is my way of trying to make up for the fact that it's impossible for me to tour to every city. If I could figure out a way to teleport, I'd meet each and every one of you in person. But since I can't, I like to make sure you all at least have a chance to get some of the fun things I give out at signings. So everyone who pre-orders a copy of LODESTAR before the cut-off date (10/31/16) AND fills out the form at the end of this post*, will get this awesome LODESTAR swag pack mailed directly to them:

In case you can't tell from the picture, you'll get:
One limited edition "Iggy's Purple Reign" art print postcard (which are hand signed--you just can't tell in the picture)
One hand signed KEEPER series bookplate
One Lodestar symbol sticker
One Iggy Sticker
One sheet of character stickers

And yes, EVERYONE who pre-orders the book and fills out the form before the cutoff date will get that!!!!!

And there's more!

I will also choose twenty-five (25) of you at random and give you this: (yes, that's in *addition* to the other swag!)

And again, in case you can't tell, that is:
One 5x7 character art postcard
One Verdi on duty button

You don't have to do anything special to enter for the extra goodies. I'll choose the winners randomly from all the people who fill out the form for their swag. So that's the only requirement: you must fill out the form at the end of this post. Which of course means you also must pre-order a copy of LODESTAR

And because I like to keep things simple, I don't require proof of purchase for the giveaway. If you say you pre-ordered LODESTAR, I trust you. But remember, liars have to lick lockers that taste like Iggy breath--meanwhile honest people get to eat big bowls of Starflower stew! :) I also won't be announcing the winners of the additional goodies. If you win the extra swag, you'll find out when your prize arrives in the mail.

This giveaway is open internationally. It also doesn't matter if you pre-order an eBook or a hardcover. As long as it's LODESTAR, it counts. And you can buy your copy anywhere books are sold. Of course I recommend shopping local from your favorite indie and supporting a local business. But it's up to you where you want to shop.

(and scroll down for one more option before you make your decision)

I also know lots of you pre-ordered your copies of LODESTAR months and months ago (which is so incredibly awesome, btw.) And if that's the case, you can definitely still fill out this form and get your free swag pack. But if you haven't ordered LODESTAR already, you must pre-order your copy before 11:59 pm (pacific time) on 10/31/16 AND fill out the form before then. After that I'll close the form and there will be no more ways to enter.

And there's no limit on how many swag packs you can get--as long as you buy the corresponding number of books. So if you pre-order five books, you can get five swag packs. Just make sure you tell me how many copies you pre-ordered so that I know how many swag packs to send you.

Also: since I'll be on tour when this contest ends, there *will* be a delay on when your swag gets mailed to you. It won't come with your book, since your book will be coming from wherever you ordered it from, and then I will be mailing the swag separately as soon as I'm home from tour. I PROMISE I'll have them all in the mail before November 30th. (most likely much sooner). And I always post on my social media when they go in the mail, so you'll know when to keep an eye out for it. Sorry for the small wait, I can't mail stuff while I'm traveling.

(And again, if you haven't checked to see if I'm touring in your area, see my events page HERE. I hope I'll get to meet at least some of you!)

One final option to keep in mind, since this is the point where many of you start panicking and emailing me saying BUT WHAT IF I'M NOT ONE OF THE LUCKY 25 WINNERS??????  I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT THE SPECIAL POSTCARD AND BUTTON!!!!!!

(especially since the ONLY other places I can guarantee that you'll get the exclusive postcard and button are my local launch party and the Changing Hands event. At the rest of the events I'll have a few for raffle prizes and that's it--but I will have all the swag in the primary swag pack for everyone)

Once again, I've teamed up with the incredible people at Changing Hands Bookstore to give you a way that you're guaranteed to get the extra pin and postcard. If you order your copy of LODESTAR through Changing Hands before my event there at 7pm on 11/16/16 (yes, you even get a couple of extra weeks to take advantage of this awesome offer), they'll send you all of the swag I've mentioned in this post (except the signed book plate, since your book will actually come hand signed by me) as well as the extra postcard and the Verdi button. Changing Hands will ship anywhere--even internationally (there IS a shipping fee. You can call them for an estimate:
480.730.0205).

And if you decide to take advantage of this, here are a few things to keep in mind (and it's a little confusing so make sure you read it carefully):

Changing Hands won't ship your book until after the 11/16 (since they'll be holding onto them until I can sign them). But it will be worth the wait because you'll get a hand signed book and the extra goodies.

- If you decide to take advantage of this and buy your copy of LODESTAR through Changing Hands, DO NOT fill out the form below. Go to Changing Hands' website HERE (and make sure you put who you want the book personalized too in the additional comments field. Or you can call them--they're super friendly: 480.730.0205) and order LODESTAR before 7pm (mountain time) on November 16, 2016. That's all you have to do. Changing Hands will take care of the rest

Another advantage to this: this is the only way--aside from coming to one of my signings--to have your book personalized to you. I used to personalize all the bookplates, but that's gotten WAY too time consuming. So if you want a personalized, signed book--AND all the fun goodies I'm giving away--Changing Hands is the only way to go. But again, you HAVE to buy your book from them.

Um........... I *think* that covers everything--but if I missed something, feel free to ask in the comments. (note: I will only answer questions posted in the comments on my website. If you're reading this on Goodreads or any of the other places it feeds out to, make sure you go to shannonmessenger.com to ask your questions. And I'm also only going to answer questions that haven't already been covered by this post, so please make sure you've read this post carefully before you ask).

And .... I guess that's it. Though I do want to once again thank all of you for incredible support. This series keeps growing and growing and it's all because of you. I can't wait for you to read LODESTAR. I'm so incredibly proud of it.

Only three weeks to go--AHHHHHH!!!!!

*Please note: you must be 13 years or older to fill out this form. If you're not, please have your parent or guardian fill it out for you.

**FORM HAS BEEN REMOVED.
The giveaway time period has now ended**

  2. Will we get all of the goodies from the swag pack at the signings?

    1. Yep! If you're coming to an event you'll get everything except the bookplate, because I'll be hand signing your book and hand stamping it)

(It says this right in the post--please make sure you guys are reading everything so you don't mess something up when you fill out the giveaway form)

    2. So if we got a bookplate with the swagpack but come to a signing to get the book signed then will it matter that we have a bookplate? Totally unrelated but when I was inthe seventh grade you came to my school and talked to my class; the next day I went and bought Keeper of the Lost cities and promptly fell in love. Now I am sixteen and most of my friends think its pretty dorky of me to still be reading your books meant for people years younger than me. I'm all honesty though I'll be eighteen when the last book comes out and I'm cool with that. Low-key I was really sad all year because I thought Lodestar was the last book-and the wait was killing me- but anyways sorry for going off on that tangent but I really hope you get to answer my question.:)

    3. If you're planning on coming to an event, there's no need to fill out the form, since you can get the same goodies at the event (minus the bookplate, since I'll be signing the book there). If you choose to fill out the form because you really want the bookplate, then that's up to you, but I'm hoping people who do that won't also take the swag at the event, since they'll be getting it in the mail and I only have a limited supply. Also, if you fill out the form, you probably won't have gotten your swag pack by the time of the event, because I can't mail things while I'm traveling, so the swag packs will go in the mail as soon as I'm home.

Oh, and yay for being a long time fan--never feel like you're too "old" for the books. The age on them is just a marketing category, to let librarians and parents know the books are age appropriate for a younger reader (meaning no sex/language). But I have never had to change a single word or plot element to make the book "for kids." They're for anyone. There are characters of all different ages and I have TONS of older readers reading them. :)

    4. I'm turning 16 and I still love it! My friends think it's weird of me, but they already knew that I'm super weird. Also I'm slowly convining people one by one to read keeper. i just got my mom and my sister to read it and they are already obsessed ;)

  5. Will we get the extra swag at the signings. Or is it just for the giveaway or Changing Hands? Thanks, I hope I see you in IL!!!

    1. I'll have a few of the extra swag button and postcard at each event (most likely given out as raffle prizes) but not enough to guarantee that everyone gets them. The only events with a guarantee are my local launch and the Changing Hands event (and of course the Changing Hands orders all have a guarantee). But I will have the other swag. (everything you see in the first picture)

  6. Yay! I can't believe we are so close to Lodestar's release date. It is so exciting. I bet the book will be great!!! (:

  7. Why is the first and last name required? Can we put in a fake name like Gandalf or Severus Snape?
I LOVE your books so much, they somehow manage to kill me and bring me back to life at the same time. You are an AMAZING author.

    1. First and last name is required because we need to address the envelope properly, and standard addresses require the full name of the person you're mailing to. (the post office checks that the name matches the name registered with the address and will often return mail without complete names as 'undeliverable') So if you want to get your swag pack I'd recommend filling out with a real name

  8. That's just so nice of you to offer all that, and internationally to boot, since I live in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, far from everything! 😃 I'll go preorder Lodestar in English, since I just can't wait for the French translation and come fill the form!

  9. Yesssssss I've been waiting for this and now it's finally here! I cannot wait to read the next installment. I was bummed that your tour doesn't take you anywhere close to where I live, but obviously you've got to do what you've got to do, and I'll be more than happy to pre-order my book from Changing Hands instead :) thank you for giving something my little brother and I can bond over together!

  10. Hi! I live in Spain and I know you said you ship internationally, but is there an extra fee for that? BTW I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND YOU'RE BOOKS MADE ME A BOOK WORM SO THANK YOU

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. there's no fee, on my end, for this giveaway period--even international readers. Anyone who pre-orders the book and fills out the form gets the swag pack mailed to them free of charge (though of course you'll pay the retailer you bought the book from--but that's totally separate from this mailing)

      Delete
    2. Okay, thank you! You're such a nice author. :3 Normally everything that normally ships to America has a very little fee and then I put it to ship to Spain and the fee goes up big time. Thank you so so much again!

P.S I know this has nothing to do with the post and I hope I'm not breaking any rules.

  13. Hi I was wondering if you are signing all of your books when you are on tour or just Lodestar. I LOVE your work. Never stop. Thankyou.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I am--though the only exception my be if they're books you already own and the stores have a limit on whether people can do that (some stores only allow a certain number of books from home to be brought in, so if you're worried, you might want to call the store and ask)

  14. Hi there! Is there any chance that you will ever come to #charlotteNC cuz me and my friends love you and are all preordering for the swag pack and book and it might help for me to get tips on writing (I do it a lot and want to go pro).

  15. I sent in the form! Thanks so much for hosting this!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Omg this is so exciting!! But if I were to pre-order from Changing Hands Bookstore, how would I personalize them???

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you call in, they'll ask if you want the book personalized. And if you order online, you put a note in the comments field specifying who you want it personalized to.

  17. What does it mean to get your book personalized

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It means I'll write your name in the book when I sign it, so that the book is signed personally to you

  18. Is there a email confirmation that the swag pack form was sent?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No--the form will say, "Your response has been recorded" once you fill it out and we'll have all your information for the mailing.

  19. I know it probably says this somewhere, but how many people will get the swag packs? So super excited for Lodestar to come out! I let my cousin read my books and within a week she had per-ordered Lodestar! Team Keefe!

    1. Everyone who pre-orders and fills out the form will get the main swag pack in the fist pic. And 25 randomly selected people will get the bonus swag in the second pic.

  20. YES! This seems a little too good to be true... Does Changing Hands have a $100 shipping fee?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. LOL, I don't actually know how much Changing Hands charges (it varies by where you live--international shipping is of course higher than US shipping) but I guarantee it's a fair rate (and definitely not $100)

  21. i filled out this form wrong the first time so i went back and did another, will that effect the result?

    1. No, I have an assistant combing through the spreadsheet and deleting mistakes like that. Only the right one will be kept

  22. Why do you need our email account. Can i put my email even if it's my dad name you are sending it to?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The email is there so we can reach you if you either fill out the form wrong, or it glitches as you submit it and some of the information disappears. Any email address is fine, so long as it reaches you

      Delete
  23. If we don't order through Changing Hands does that mean we don't get our name in the book because only changing hands personalizes them???

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Um...it depends on where you're ordering the book from. If you order from any of the stores I'm visiting on tour--and wait to have them ship the book until my event--then the book can be personalized when they ship it (and in that case you would need to fill out the form because I haven't arranged with any stores except Changing Hands for you to get swag). But if you're ordering from somewhere like B&N or amazon, not only will the book not be personalized, it also won't be signed. That's why you get a bookplate in the swag pack to stick in--which will not be personalized.

  24. Is there a way to keep track of when the pack is goin' to arrive?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes. Follow me on social media (or just check my instagram feed online if you don't have accounts). I'll post a pic whenever they go in the mail (there WILL be a delay. I have HUNDREDS to assemble and address and a LOT of travel, so it'll happen sometime in Nov but I have no idea when they will all be done and ready. I'll aim for "as soon as I can" but the only thing I can guarantee is 'before 11/30"

  25. if i come to a book signing can you write my name in my book when you sign it? and can i bring the other books in the series for you to sign?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Of course I can write your name in the book at events. But as for bringing your other books from home, that's up to the store. Some are fine with that. Others have rules, so the best advice I can give you is to call the store and ask.

  26. Will the Iggy drawing be hand signed or will it be a copy? (I'm guessing a copy since it would probably take too much time to sign ALL of them... but i just wanted to know)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hand signed. I have the blister on my finger to prove it.

      Delete
  27. I'm going to the launch party, but my pre-ordered book won't arrive in time for me to have you sign it. What should I do?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The pre-order giveaway is mostly designed for those NOT coming to events, since you can get a book--and the swag--at the signing. So sadly I'm not totally sure what to tell you other than that of course you can still come to the event to enjoy all the other fun stuff, but if you want to get something signed at the event you'd have to buy a copy there.

Yay-I love comments! Thank you so much! (But please remember to keep your comments spoiler-free. Also, I try to keep this a happy, positive place. Friendly debate is fine, but always be kind to each other). <3
