Um... Shannonfail

So...I know. I KNOW I'm supposed to be answering some of those lovely questions you guys were awesome enough to ask me on Wednesday (and if you haven't added yours to the mix, feel free to hop over THERE and ask away.)

And I planned to. I really did.

But the thing is...I'm having one of those weeks. You know, one of THOSE weeks, where everything takes 100 times longer than it should and you feel like all you've done is run and run and run and work and work and work and you still have nothing to show for it? Welcome to my week.

Which left me feeling like this:

And then, we started WriteOnCon planning and the Bookanistas decided to get more organized so my inbox EXPLODED. So by the time I tackled all of that and tried to catch up on the CP/Beta Reading I'm supposed to be doing (omgI'mtheworstfriendEVERpleasedonthateme) and, you know, stopped to breathe for half a second well...I was kind of like this:

So I'm going to have to write today's post off as a Shannonfail.

I'm so tired I don't even have the energy to GOOGLE HOT GUYS. Yep, it's a tragic condition and I'm seeking help from every specialist to cure it. But in the meantime, thank you for being so awesome and understanding. I PROMISE I will be back to normal on Monday. Promise Promise Promise.

Oh--and one thing I DID accomplish this week: I joined the dark side. I'm now a member of Goodreads. I hadn't joined before because, well, I HATE rating books. And I'll probably never have as many books on there as others because I'm not going to include any I wouldn't give 4 or 5 stars to. But I caved. I'm on there now. And it's LONELY. Please be my friend. I think if you go HERE you can do it. Cause right now I am le sad, with only like 30 friends. HELP!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  1. I friended you. I'm glad you're on Goodreads.

I can totally relate to your week. I'm an attorney and my office closed for a week for the holidays. I can't believe how many people can have emergencies with just one week not being there. My mind's going so fast I'm waking up at 4:00.

BTW,Adventures in Children's Publishing posts links on Fridays to good blog articles and two of yours on voice were listed. Here's the link: http://childrenspublishing.blogspot.com/
Let's both get some rest this weekend.

  2. I'll friend you. I'm having problems with persistent frienders who keep friending me when they don't read the same genres as me. Why would I want to waste time reading their reviews when I'm not going to read the books in the first place/ They must love being rejected, because as soon as I do, they try to friend me again. Creepy and annoying!

Oh, and you're forgiven about the lack of hot guys on your post today. The adorable kitties make up for that. :D

  3. Friend, too! No need to explain, either. I've had the flu all week. I feel like a horrible blogging/writer friend. I haven't been sick in years. This is really putting a crimp in my querying plans this week. But you know, I have to look at it this way: it's all in the plan. *winky*

Relax this weekend...at least try. And dump the stinkin' inbox. Ugh....

  4. Hah! I re-joined goodreads too Shannon, lol.

And, seriously, those kitties totally made my morning.

  5. I joined Goodreads to keep track of my reading in one place with what I thought of the book right there. I don't include 1 or 2 star reviews.

But I do include 3 stars. Here's why. They tend to be the most honest. I've bought books off of 3 stars because they include the positive and the negative. I can truly see if it's a book I would want to read. I don't trust all 5 star reviews. When I look up a book, I go straight to the 3 star reviews to get the real deal. And they're not all bad reviews at all.

  6. LOL! You make me laugh. Also, I joined Goodreads a year ago and have only been on it ONCE. Maybe I should go take another gander.

  7. Neat, I'm on GR too (but not as active as say, 90% of the population) Hope you get some rest, take some vitamin C and don't sweat it.

  8. YES! I was like your third friend. I'm so proud. And I'm totally amazed that you can still get all of this crap done.

    All that equals SHANNON WIN!

  11. Friended!I love Goodreads. There are so many awesome books to explore.

And no hot guys? *sigh* I guess the cute kitten pics make up for it. A little.

It doesn't hurt that hubby and I are watching the first season of TVD. *dreamy sigh* I've been following the show since it started and now I want to hook hubby on it too. :)

  13. I cannot brain today, I have the dumb... HAHA, that is seriously going to be my new motto. I can't brain most days.

I'm on Goodreads, too. With, like, 30 friends that took me a year to gather. I thought that was a lot of friends. Now I feel like a loser.

Okay, I don't really feel like a loser, but I'm off to add you to my Goodreads friends, because stalking people's reading lists is my favorite past time.

  14. No biggie, Shan. We ALL have those weeks. Try to have a restful and productive (is it even possible to do both?) weekend. Take lots of naps with all your kitties! :-)

  15. I prefer Librarything.com , because I love to catalogue my books and I find the system more user-friendly than on GoodReads... and I love the community in the '75 Books Challenge' forum :)

Here's hoping you get to rest a bit over the weekend and come back feeling refreshed!

  16. I feel you on the whole exhausted thing. Why has this week been so hard? I think it has something to do with the holidays being over.

I have been really lazy about Goodreads but I hopped over and friended you!!!!

  17. I'll friend you! And don't feel bad - if my inbox looked like that, I'd give the blogging a rest, too. And WriteOnCon? I'm SO excited.

You're amazing for doing all that you do.

LOL! My word ver for this comment is SPENT. The GoogleBrain strikes again!

  24. I was reluctant to join Goodreads for the same reason and I also decided I'd only list books I can rate 4 or 5.

    I'll be your friend!

  30. How boring it would be to be on top of everything -- it would definitely be a sign you didn't have enough fabulous and exciting things in your life.

I have friended you on Goodreads (I'm new too) and have googled a hot boy for you:

Yay-I love comments! Thank you so much! (But please remember to keep your comments spoiler-free. Also, I try to keep this a happy, positive place. Friendly debate is fine, but always be kind to each other). <3
