Powering Through...

Some weeks are just harder than others. Busier. With no time to breathe or stop or rest or eat.

It's definitely been one of those weeks.

I've been up till 2 every night. Skipping meals. Going going going, and then going a little more.

But it's okay. I'm powering through. And hey, that's what caffeine's for, right?

So I'm going to go get myself the most gigantic cup of (insert caffeinated beverage of choice) and keep on going.

Anyone want to join me?

  8. I'm a total, total coffee addict. I even have a coffee pot in my office at work to make an extra pot for my afternoon caffeine fix. I can definitely relate.

  12. I'm right there with you. The only time I can get any work done is after everyone else is has gone to bed, so I've been getting about 5 hours sleep each night this week. I SO need that cup (filled with Dr. Pepper of course)!

  15. I'm going to try to get at least 3K words down tomorrow, so it's going to take an entire pitcher of iced tea to keep me going!

    (Also, stop skipping meals! ;D)

  16. I'm in! Anything that involves hanging out with Shannon, even virtually, is all right by me (even if it's 4 in the morning and we're emailing each other, making very little sense). I heart ya girl.

  17. Yes! Been a bit crazy for me too. Hope it slows down for both of us soon ;o) I can't have caffeine, but I will live vicariously through you!

Great pic. It's very Alice in Wonderlandesque!

Have a great weekend, and eat!

  18. Hope things slow down for you soon. I have been surviving on a lot less sleep than I need right now - almost finished editing my YA fantasy novel so I can send it to my beta readers and start to send out queries for it once I perfect the query letter. And today I'm gonna start a new story. Hoping to finish it in two months. But all this writing cuts into my sleep time and my 8 week old is getting up too much at night so I'm probably gonna crash and burn soon. We'll see.

  19. Yes! I feel totally wiped out this week. I stayed up late reading Jody Hedlund's new book (SOOOOOOO good) this week. Bring on the coffee! :-)

  20. You didn't see me beside you?lol

I wish someone would invent a portable caffeine IV that you could just hook up to every day when you got to work.

  21. so if I tell you that the only caffeinated drink I love is tea would you hold it against me? ;o)

BUT I would definitely sip it happily and help you power through!!!

  23. Okay, I'm in as long as it has a built in mechanism to keep the coffee hot. 'Cuz that's a whole lotta' coffee to drink cold.

  24. I can't even begin to tell you how strongly this entry resonates with me. It has indeed been one of those weeks. Ugh. I think I'll join you with a huge mug of coffee.

  28. Care to share a cup? Wow, anyone could go halfsies on that one. But seriously, I know what you mean some days even weeks are just like than and you have no other choice, because crawling up into a ball and crying on the floor is just not an option.

    Go get'em!

  29. Oh my gosh, I don't know how you do it, Shannon. The past couple of nights I've only gotten six hours of sleep instead of my usual seven-eight, and I feel like a walking, talking zombie.

Take care of yourself - okay? Food is fuel. Sleep is fuel! Go too long without fuel and you'll eventually crash! No Shannon crashing, please!!! :)

  30. Whoa, I am SO there with you!

But I survived my Book Armageddon deadline and got it in two weeks ago to my editor. And I just heard on Friday that she LOVES it. Humongous relief! I was laughing and crying at the same time when I got her message.

Now I get one month for revisions. And I'm still soooooo tired!

Hang in there, girl! And I'M THRILLED you are a Mixed-Up Author with me!!!!!!!! (I was on the selection committee. Me, Elissa and Mindy make up the Three Supreme Rulers. Hee, hee.

  31. Ditto!

Unfortunately I seem to be immune to caffeine and to Red Bull. When I'm ready for sleep nothing can stop me. Luckily, I'm a natural insomniac :)

  32. Whoa, now that's what I call a caffeine fix! :o
