Okay, I'm Ready for the "I Told You Sos"

So ... I'm sick.

It's just a cold--and not even THAT bad of one. But it's definitely knocked me on my butt. *sigh*

And yes, I realize it's largely my own fault. Too many nights up till 2am and missed meals and not taking vitamins and going going going on only fumes. Believe me, I'm getting plenty of "I told you sos"--and I have no doubt many of you will join in. But that's okay, I deserve it. I definitely brought this on myself. *grumble*

So I'm laying low today, hoping that if I'm a good girl and stay in bed and drink fluids and all that jazz that it won't turn into "the cold that won't go away" like what happened last time.

But don't worry about me. I've got my "Sick Day Movies" already queued up (Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Sense and Sensibility). I've got Theo--aka "the gremlin"--to keep me company (he LOVES when I'm in bed all day):

(and I took this picture yesterday, so you can see I'm not deathly pale or anything)

Not to mention I have no shortage of awesome books to read:

(and this is just one stack of ARCs. There's 2 more. And at least 4 piles of recent releases. My TBR piles are out. of. control.)

But I'm sorry for such a lame post. My slight fever is making the whole being coherent a tad more challenging that it already is. So I'm just going to quit while I'm ahead and stop here. :)

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Oh, and if you haven't entered for a chance to win a signed copy of Eoin Colfer's THE ATLANTIS COMPLEX, you better get on that. You only have till midnight tonight to enter. :)

  2. Nothing brightens your day quite like a comment from Lenny. Man that little dude is awesome!

Anyway give yourself some credit. I stayed home sick from work TWICE this week and I didn't even post. So at least you have that on me.

And I know this is totally inappropriate, but I think you look lovely in that picture. I'm just sayin.

  7. Looks like you and I fell into the same deep dark hole of feeling icky! I have my hot teas and books sitting next to me... this cold is a rough one.

I see The Search for Wondla! I just posted about that today, I am looking forward to meeting Tony on the 19th and just had to share it with the world!

Good luck knocking out the ARC's!!!

  8. Feel better and you look pretty darn good for being sick!!
I always take Airborne when I start feeling ill. I don't know if it truly works or just psychological but it seems to at least shorten my cold.
    Enjoy your reading/movie time though!

  11. I'm sorry you're sick. I got hit with the cold bug too. Another reason for my mush brain I'm sure. I just wanted to add a couple of other great movies to the awesome list you already have.
An Ideal Husband is a must see if you haven't. It has Cate Blanchett, Minnie Driver, Rupert Everett, Julianne Moore, and Jeremy Northam.
North and South (not the war one, but the awesome BBC miniseries with Richard Armitage. It's a little slower than Pride and Prejudice, but SO good!)

    Get better!

  13. Too bad you're sick, but sometimes it's fun to lay in bed and read. Feel better.

  14. Sorry you don't feel good, that's no fun. Except for watching movies and reading books and all that. I miss those days, when getting sick = movies/book days. Now it's just keep dragging my sorry butt around trying to take care of my kids and not die. Ugh. So that basically means I'm jealous you're sick a nd can lay in bed and read/watch movies. Anyway... Also, I'm so jealous of some of those books! I want to see what else you have. Except then I'll be even more jealous. Huh.

  15. I hope you feel better soon! But with movies and books like that, it can't be all that bad :) Good luck kicking that cold!

  16. Feel better. This first sickness of the season is the worst.

    Enjoy your books.

Did you sell your soul to some sort of demon to get all those arcs? If so, where can I get a hold of said demon, because I'm not using my soul all that much and it might be worth the trade. :-)

  21. Awwww, could Lenny be any more precious?! I love that kid! Feel better #1. Your cat is gorgeous. I had one like that once named Thomas. *grins* I don't think I'd have the will to watch any movies if had the ARC piles you do - lucky, lucky girl! Nightshade AND Wondla AND Pegasus in only one of three piles?? WOW. I think you're my hero. LOL.

  26. Noooooo, not the sickness!

I loathe getting sick. It makes me restless and cranky... but sometimes I can reframe it as an excellent opportunity to catch up on some reading. Looks like you've got that covered!

    Get well soon!

  27. Poor thing! Kick back, relax, cuddle with Theo and wait for it to pass.

  31. Aw, I hope you feel better soon! I probably would be sick with you, but instead of staying up late or getting up early to write, I've been sleeping instead. I just can't get myself up to write. I'm just too worn out. Giving birth will do that to ya.
